Manchester City fans react to Raheem Sterling's performance against France on Twitter

Raheem Sterling was again given a chance to impress at international level last night as he was given a start for England during their 2-0 friendly win over France.

Though the action on the pitch took on less significance - with the match being more important as a show of solidarity following terrorist attacks in Paris last Friday - there were still 90 minutes for players to impress.

Sterling always looked a threat on the counter-attack as he appeared to form part of a front three. His pace and ability to take players on gave France a lot of problems and he probably feels he could've got on the scoresheet having had one or two chances.

But his contribution did produce something tangible as shortly after the half-time break, his turn and cross allowed Wayne Rooney to score from close range before he was withdrawn on just after the hour mark.

Sterling has been in pretty impressive form since he made his move from Liverpool to Manchester City in the summer, and City fans will be hoping it will continue when he faces up against his old club at the weekend.

However, not everybody was entirely satisfied with his display if twitter is anything to go by.

Here is a sample of the reaction:
