Lord Sugar reacts to Dele Alli's goal, questions Tottenham plans

Lord Sugar

Former Tottenham chairman is confident Dele Alli will stay at Tottenham.

Dele Alli showed he is made for the international stage, by scoring a superb opener in England's friendly with France.

His all round game was superb, consistently driving forward, and winning the ball back for the Three Lions.

Alli signed for Tottenham back in January for just £5 million, and was loaned back to MK Dons before making his Premier League debut in August.

The fee is already looking like a bargain for the teenager, and how much he would cost now may be an eye-watering sum, but if Tottenham are serious then there is only one value they can place on him: Priceless.

Alli is one of England's best prospects to break through in years, and they are a combination of both sensible, shrewd, and fortunate to have him - lucky that nobody else beat them to it.

Former Spurs chairman Lord Sugar was impressed with Alli's strike at Wembley, but was typically pessimistic, wondering if one day the club will cash in on him.

As long as Tottenham keep Mauricio Pochettino around as head coach, you would have to think that Alli will want to stick around at Spurs.

Tottenham have a great chance of getting into the top four this season and playing in the Champions League next year, and when they move into their new stadium they will be even better off financially and able to resist any offers for him.

Spurs have in the past lost key players, even in Sugar's era as chairman, Sol Campbell notably on a free transfer, but the club are really on an upwards curve - and can hope to reset recent history by keeping Alli throughout his career.
