HITC Sport understands that the teenage goalkeeper is to link up with the League Two side on a short-term agreement.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Brighton & Hove Albion have sanctioned a loan switch to Plymouth Argyle for promising goalkeeper Christian Walton.

Walton joined Bury on loan at the start of the season, but saw his stay cut short by injury and was forced to return to Brighton.

The 19-year-old made six appearances during his loan stint at Bury and now he is back to full fitness Brighton are keen for him to go out on loan again.

Walton is highly regarded by Brighton boss Chris Hughton, but he feels the keeper would benefit from going out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience.

Walton made his senior debut for the Seagulls in a League Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur last season, while going on to make three appearances in the Championship - keeping two clean sheets in his four outings.

However, Walton is well down the pecking order at the Amex Stadium and Brighton feel he is in need of more first-team experience to continue his development.

A number of Football League clubs have expressed an interest in Walton, but Plymouth have moved quickly to agree a deal to take the shot-stopper to Home Park.

Plymouth have moved to bring in Walton after losing Luke McCormick to injury and Walton is set to go into the squad for the league leaders' clash with Exeter on Saturday.
