The goalkeeper has become the Czech Republic's joint record appearance holder after playing against Poland.
The Gunners 'keeper made his 118th international appearance for his country on Tuesday evening, in their 3-1 loss away to Poland.
That cap took him level with Czech Republic legend Karel Paborsky in the international team’s list of most capped players, with the right-winger also standing on 118.
And he reacted on Twitter, expressing his delight at equalling the record despite the loss on the evening.
Honoured to have equaled the record of Karel Poborský ,shame the result was not the best for us .Thank you for all the congratulations— Petr Cech (@PetrCech) November 17, 2015
“Honoured to have equaled the record of Karel Poborský, shame the result was not the best for us. Thank you for all the congratulations,” he wrote on Twitter.
With Paborsky having been retired since 2006, Cech will surely now be eyeing the opportunity to become his country’s all time appearance holder.
For now however, he can reflect on another personal record of what has been a glittering career to date.
His focus will surely quickly turn back to the Premier League though , with Arsenal keen to continue their strong start to the season.
The Gunners are currently joint top of the Premier League table and in a fine run of form, with Cech having played a big part in that run since his move from Chelsea.
