The Turkish striker has been linked with West Ham United.
When you consider the Hammers have recently lost both Dimitri Payet and Enner Valencia to injury it would be no surprise if their manager Slaven Bilic opted to bring in more goal-scoring options at the next available opportunity, but is Yilmaz the right man for the job?
In short he most certainly is, and of all the strikers linked with a potential January transfer, the 30-year-old is one of the few that could make a real difference at Upton Park.
Given his age Yilmaz would bring experience to West Ham’s front-line while he would also be young enough to still make an impact for a few years to come.
Then there is the fact that he has netted an impressive 77 goals in 133 appearances for Galatasaray, while he has also provided 24 assists to date.
A player who clearly knows where the goal is, and finds it regularly, Yilmaz could be the player to not only help West Ham maintain their brilliant start to the campaign, but also to fire them to the next level in the years ahead.
His goal-record suggests he would excel playing in front of Payet once the Frenchman is fit again and at this stage of his career he may be seeking one last big move.
With 58 goals in 93 matches for former club Trabzonspor, Yilmaz is no flash-in-the-pan, and if West Ham can convince his current side Galatasaray to do business, it could be another Bilic master-stroke.
