Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb left Algeria's match early.

Nabil Bentaleb appeared frustrated as he was substituted after just 36 minutes of Algeria's World Cup qualifier.

The midfielder was taken off in the first half of his nation's win over Tanzania, eight minutes after he had picked up a booking.

Bentaleb was able to walk off the field unaided, and he could just have been taken off as a precaution. There was no visible suggestion of an injury, and more will become clearer in due course.

The central midfielder has missed most of this season through injury, and had been in line for a comeback against West Ham this weekend, if selected.

Now that has been thrown into doubt, until more facts are established about why he was taken off early.

Having been booked, it may well have been a decision from manager Christian Gourcuff to take him off to avoid being sent off.

If there is no injury, then his substitution is the best case scenario for Spurs, with Bentaleb avoiding the possibility of actually getting hurt later in the game.
