Report: Liverpool handed double fitness boost for Manchester City clash

James Milner and Jordon Ibe are both looking to return after their recent injuries.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been handed a double fitness boost for the clash with Manchester City, according to the Liverpool Echo.

James Milner and Jordon Ibe should be available for the clash with Manuel Pellegrini’s side, having been struggling with niggling injuries.

Both have however come trough a full training session at the club’s training ground on Monday afternoon, and will now be hopeful of making the City game.

The club’s medical staff assessed the duo in that training session, and will now be carefully monitored throughout the rest of the week, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Milner’s return in particular will be a big boost to the side, with him having been sorely missed in Klopp’s first defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace before the international break.

Milner has made a solid start to his career at Anfield, and despite coming in for criticism from the fan base, is very much a key player in the side.

The news will also be a particular boost to Klopp, who would have feared losing two more of his first team squad, after also losing Mamadou Sakho to a long-term injury.

He will now be hoping both can help his side to get back to winning ways following the disappointing loss to Palace.
