The Romanian is on the comeback trail.

Southampton defender Florin Gardos has impressed in his brief appearances for The Saints.

Unfortunately those appearances have been limited as he has suffered some injury issues in his time at St Mary's Stadium. Gardos, who signed from Steaua Bucharest for a fee reported by the BBC to be in the region of £6 million in August 2014, most recently suffered a serious knee injury in a pre-season friendly against Feyenoord and is out of action until next year.

The 26-year-old central defender is therefore on the sidelines and is not taking part for either Southampton or the Romanian national team, for whom he has 14 caps.

However it looks as though he is stepping up his recovery.

He posted this picture earlier today, showing off as he kicked a football around for the first time in four months:

Gardos has impressed in his fleeting appearances with Southampton but he has played just 18 times since his arrival and has not featured since picking up an injury against West Brom in February.

His recovery will certainly be welcomed by Southampton fans who have not seen as much of the player as they would have liked.
