The Everton and Manchester City stars received the Goal and Player of the Year accolades.

Everton defender Phil Jagielka and Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero have received accolades at the North West Awards, as reported by The Daily Mail.

The awards ceremony celebrates the achievements of footballing stars from the North West region, with the ceremony held at Emirates Old Trafford, which is the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club.

City striker Aguero was named the Player of the Year but was not on hand to receive his award, with a representative from the club picking up the trophy for him.

The Argentina international has been a driving force for the Etihad Stadium outfit over recent years, with his goals last term ensuring that Manuel Pellegrini’s men finished second in the Premier League ahead of a resurgent Arsenal.

With Aguero currently injured, both his club and country have struggled for goals and will want him back in the action as soon as possible.

Jagielka meanwhile scooped the Goal of the Year accolade for his stunning long-range effort against fierce rivals Liverpool that earned his side a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby back in September 2014.

The England international does not score many goals, but his stunning strike at Anfield sent the travelling support into rapture.
