Further blow for Aston Villa as Rudy Gestede picks up injury

Trinity Road Stand - Aston Villa

The striker was forced out of Benin's game with Burkina Faso and now could miss the trip to Everton.

Aston Villa have been handed another injury blow as another of their players have picked up an injury blow in this international break, reports the Birmingham Mail.

The Villans recently lost young full back Jordan Amavi for the rest of the season, with him suffering a major knee injury for France.

And now Rudy Gestede has joined the injury list, having also picked up a knee injury while on international duty.

The striker was forced off for Benin on Friday as they beat Burkina Faso and will sit out their other game against them because of it, according to the Birmingham Mail.

At present, it is not thought to be a serious injury, but there are fears he could be missing for period with the key Christmas period coming up.

Villa’s medical team are set to assess his fitness, and he could be ordered to sit out this weekend’s clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

New manager Remi Garde will be hoping the knock doesn’t rule him out for a long period than that, with his side struggling for goals this season.

With Gabby Agbonlahor and Libor Kozak also struggling for fitness, that would force the Frenchman to go with Jordan Ayew up front once again, something that is not a long-term solution for the side.
