Erik Lamela has told the London Evening Standard that he never considered the prospect of leaving Tottenham Hotspur over the summer.
The Standard claim that Lamela was on the brink of securing a switch to Inter Milan during the previous transfer window, but the Argentine winger insists that he had no interest in moving away from White Hart Lane.
Instead, Lamela claims his only intention was to improve for the Lilywhites - with all of his focus directed on getting back to his best.
"It was never in my plans," Lamela said. "It didn’t interest me. Sometimes it’s better to keep your head concentrated on where you are.”
Lamela’s desire to improve has been rewarded this season, as he has pieced together his best run of form in a Spurs shirt.
The 23-year-old appeared to be struggling to make an impact in English football during his first two campaigns with the Lilywhites, but he seems to have adapted to the pace of the Premier League now.
Lamela has become an integral part of Tottenham’s starting line-up, and he has managed to score four times in 14 appearances.
The former Roma man’s form has been a major contributing factor to Spurs’ good start, which has seen them go unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League matches.
