The Israeli spent a period on trial at City before a move to Glasgow.
Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has become a star in Glasgow. The Israeli midfielder has been linked with moves away from Scottish football in recent times, with teams in the Premier League said to be interested.
Luckily it seems he is sticking around.
Of course he has been at a Premier League club before. Celtic picked him up from FC Ashdod in his homeland but before that he had been in the system at Manchester City. He was with the Premier League high-flyers on a trial period in 2012.
And it is here that he says he was with the best footballer he has ever played with - Yaya Toure.
He is quoted by the Celtic website of saying this of the Ivorian midfield talent:
"Probably the best player I played with was when I was with Manchester City and it was Yaya Toure. As a midfielder I tried to learn a lot from you (sic). He’s an unbelievable player and it was a joy to play with him.
"I think he’s about 32 so he’s a few years older than me. I didn’t speak to him too much because I wasn’t long at the club, but I did learn from him and enjoyed playing with him."
Bitton, with his penchant for long range strikes and physical standing, certainly shares some similarities with the Manchester City star.
However he certainly has to progress a fair bit more in the coming years for Celtic fans to ever consider him equal to the Manchester City talent.
But as long as he tries to develop to that level at Parkhead than they will be happy with the Israel international.
