Ahead of their international friendly against France on Tuesday evening, England’s senior squad has been training at Tottenham Hotspur’s facilities, with two young Spurs players given a surprise chance to train with Roy Hodgson’s men.
As confirmed by the Three Lions’ official Twitter account on Monday morning, Tottenham prospects Harry Winks and Shayon Harrison were both involved in the session, which will come as invaluable experience for the players as they bid to one day earn call-ups of their own.
Winks is a 19-year-old central midfielder who has two first-team appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to date, and Harrison is an 18-year-old striker who is currently making waves at under-21 level.
Both players are very highly rated at White Hart Lane and in time they should both play a big role for the club, and it shows just how big their reputations are that Hodgson has invited both to take part in training this week.
Harrison has scored five goals in 15 appearances for Tottenham’s under-21s to date and last season he was in outstanding form for Spurs’ under-18s, his most notable performances a four-goal haul against Chelsea and a hat-trick against Arsenal.
Winks has 24 under-21 appearances under his belt, in which time he has scored three goals, while he has twice made the bench for Premier League matches this season.
