Rangers winger Nathan Oduwa names Brazilian great Ronaldinho as his footballing idol.

Tottenham Hotspur-owned Rangers winger Nathan Oduwa has told the club’s official website that Brazilian great Ronaldinho is his footballing idol.

The 19-year-old joined Scottish Championship side Rangers on a season-long loan deal from Premier League outfit Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

Oduwa, who has been playing well for the Gers this season, has explained why he adores Ronaldinho.

“Ronaldinho full stop,” the youngster told Rangers’ official website when asked who his footballing idol is. “He just made me smile every time I watched him on the TV and he played with a smile as well.

“He just showed me how playing football allows you to express yourself and you just have the freedom to do what you want with the ball at your feet on the pitch.”

Ronaldinho is one of the greatest players in footballing history and has won everything one could win.

The former Brazil international attacking midfielder won the World Cup in 2002, and La Liga (twice) and the Champions League with Barcelona.

At his peak, the 35-year-old was the undisputed best player in the world, and he always played with a smile on his face.

The tricks, flicks and technical skills that Ronaldinho displayed on the football pitch are something that most footballers cannot even do during training sessions.
