Claudio Ranieri surprised by N'Golo Kante's start at Leicester City

N'Golo has been in wonderful form for Leicester City so far this season.

Claudio Ranieri has told the Leicester Mercury that he has been surprised by how quickly N’Golo Kante has adapted to English football.

Kante joined Leicester from Caen during the summer transfer window, and he has made a remarkable impression at the King Power Stadium.

The energetic central-midfielder has come straight into the Foxes’ team, and even Ranieri admits that he has been shocked by Kante’s start.

"I am surprised how fast he has adapted to the league," said Ranieri.

"It is not easy, but he is enjoying it because his kind of football is very close to English football. It is very fast. He is attentive. He understands early where the ball or the opponent goes. He is amazing.

"He is a quiet boy on the pitch. I never hear from him, never. When I speak to him he nods. I love him in this way. He is a nice boy and his team-mates are laughing with him because everyone loves him. He is a very warm man, very quiet."

Leicester's signing of Gokhan Inler rather overshadowed Kante’s addition at the King Power, but the Frenchman has wasted no time showing his quality.

Kante’s partnership with Danny Drinkwater in the heart of Leicester’s team has been hugely impressive, and one of the key reasons behind their excellent start.

Although Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have grabbed most the headlines for the Foxes, their success would not have been possible without Kante and Drinkwater.

The pair have set the tone for Leicester, and they have helped the side climb into third place in the Premier League table.
