Sergio Aguero believes Manchester City are benefitting hugely from the arrivals of both Kevin De Bruyne and Nicolas Otamendi over the summer.
De Bruyne was signed from Wolfsburg prior to the close of the summer transfer window, with the Sky Blues shelling out a reported £55 million to bring the Belgian to the Etihad.
Since then the 24-year-old has hit the ground running with six goals and six assists in his first 14 games for Manchester City.
And speaking in an interview with the club’s official website, Aguero was full of praise for De Bruyne, describing the deal to sign the attacker as a “great bit of business” for the Sky Blues.
The Argentine also spoke of the fast-developing relationship he is enjoying with the Belgian on the pitch and the need for those at the club to ensure the winger feels at home with City.
“The few chances I’ve had to play alongside him have been encouraging because we started to get an understanding of how each other plays,” he said.
“… He is a great player and it’s really important he settles in and shows us what he can do… I’m looking forward to playing alongside him again.”
Aguero was similarly full of praise for Otamendi, a defender he has previously played alongside in the Argentina national team.
Signed on a five-year deal for an initial fee believed to be in the region of £28.5 million, the 27-year-old has already featured 10 times for Manchester City this season, scoring once along the way.
During that period, City have successfully earned qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League with relative ease and currently sit top of the Premier League ahead of Arsenal on goal difference.
“Nico is a good player who will help our team,” Aguero said.
“He had a great season with Valencia last season and that’s helped earn him a move here.”
Despite heaping praise on the continental pair however, Aguero failed to acknowledge fellow new signing Raheem Sterling and his contribution to the City cause.
Manchester City are next in action at home to Liverpool.
