A defender linked with Tottenham Hotspur has scored an impressive 16 club goals to date.
According to a recent report from the Daily Star Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Dynamo Kiev star Domagoj Vida and may bid £7million for him in January, and when you consider the player’s scoring record he could add more than just defensive stability.
Tottenham could do with more attacking options with Harry Kane their only senior out-and-out striker, but while plenty of other forwards’ names have been thrown into the mix, Vida’s arrival would see an unlikely new source of goals.
The 26-year-old is predominantly a centre-back who can also operate as a very effective right-back, while he can be used on the opposite flank if required, and his past goal-scoring record should excite Tottenham fans.
After all, Vida has scored six goals and provided six assists for current club Kiev, and while that came in 91 matches that is still a great record for a defender.
Similarly Vida scored six goals and provided four assists while on the books at NK Osijek and he netted eight times and set up five more when he played for Dinamo Zagreb.
In short he has proved a regular goal-threat practically everywhere he has been – apart from during an ill-fated brief spell at Bayer Leverkusen – and while for now it is only a rumour, Tottenham could certainly do with more attacking threat from the back.
