Report: Van Gaal plots United reunion with Arjen Robben following Lewandowski comments

Manchester United are reportedly pursuing Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben.

According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United are monitoring Arjen Robben's situation at Bayern Munich ahead of a potential move for the winger.

The Red Devils are moving steadily in the Premier League, but fans are growing increasingly frustrated with manager Louis van Gaal and the lack of goals at Old Trafford.

With just 17 goals this season, United are the lowest scorers of the top seven Premier League teams, and fans want to see more pace in the final third from a so far dull Red Devils side.

Now, The Mirror report that Van Gaal could look to add a spark by pursuing a reunion with Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben, with the Dutchman allegedly disgruntled at the Allianz Arena.

The 31-year-old winger worked with Van Gaal at Bayern and with the Netherlands national team, and he could look for an exit from the German giants after striker Robert Lewandowski slammed his greedy play, according to The Mirror.

If Robben is indeed unhappy and looking for a move away, joining United could be ideal. Van Gaal needs pace in the final third, and snapping up a player he has worked with before would be a great move for United - especially considering how Robben proved himself in the Premier League with Chelsea previously too.

Bayern boss Pep Guardiola has the likes of Douglas Costa, Kingsley Coman and Thomas Muller at his disposal in attack, so landing a big fee for a player the wrong side of 30 in Robben could make a potential deal with United ideal for all parties involved.
