Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Ray Wilkins predicted on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday morning that Manchester City will win the Premier League title this season.
“I agree with John (Barnes) 100% that this is their (Arsenal’s) best chance, but I think that Manchester City will win the league,” said Wilkins when asked who he thinks will win the league title this season.
“I think City just have too much for everybody,” added the former Aston Villa assistant manager.
City and Arsenal are level on 26 points at the moment, with the former top due to a superior goal difference.
Manchester United are two points behind the leaders in fourth, while Tottenham Hotspur are just five points off the pace.
With Chelsea just three points above the Premier League relegation zone, it is clear that City, Arsenal and United are the three main contenders for the title this season.
The Citizens have the best squad in England, and many will back them to go all the way.
This is Arsenal’s best chance of winning the championship, but United’s chances cannot be written off as they are still not in fifth gear but still picking up points.
What about Tottenham? A top-four finish is the North London outfit’s main objective, but they are on a good run and are still just five points behind City and Arsenal.
The busy Christmas period will be important for all the teams aiming, or at least hoping, to win the Premier League title.
