Former Liverpool and Newcastle United winger John Barnes said on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday morning that Aston Villa will not relegated from the Premier League.
“I think they will stay up because there are teams down there who won’t pick up enough points,” said Barnes when asked about Villa’s survival chances.
Villa are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with just five points from 12 matches.
Sunderland are second from bottom with six points, while Bournemouth are a place and two points above the Black Cats.
Newcastle are another side who are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
The Magpies are 17th in the league table at the moment, but Steve McClaren’s side are only two points above the bottom three.
Villa have a new manager in charge, Remi Garde, whose main priority is to get the team start picking up points.
The Villans do have some good players, and fans should have faith in their new boss.
