Former Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers manager Iain Dowie said on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon that Leeds United will achieve success in the long run.
“They have got goals in the team,” said Dowie. “If defensively they become a bit stronger, then they could be a dark horse in the long run.”
Leeds last played in the Premier League in 2004 and are now pretty much an also-ran in the Championship.
The Whites are 15th in the Championship table at the moment with 19 points from 16 matches, six points above the relegation zone.
A top-six finish in the league this season looks unlikely at this stage, but under new head coach Steve Evans the team are looking confident again.
The West Yorkshire outfit have won their last two Championship fixtures and are getting away from the relegation zone.
Leeds defeated Cardiff City 1-0 at Elland Road at the start of the month and then got the better of Huddersfield Town 3-0 away from home.
