The Sevilla midfielder has twice been close to joining Everton and been linked on numerous occasions.
Brace yourselves Everton fans because once again the Ever Banega rumours are coming.
It was reported by the Liverpool Echo yesterday that Everton were joining a whole heap of big names in the pursuit of the Argentine international - who will become a free agent at the end of the current season.
But this is an age old tale that goes right back to 2009.
In August 2009 the BBC reported that Everton had secured a work permit for the player who, at the time, was sitting on the sidelines at Valencia.
But the deal never came off after Valencia pulled out of the move.
Since then the rumour continued to rumble on and in 2013 they came close again. David Moyes and Everton once again got a work permit for the player, according to the Liverpool Echo, and it looked like he was on his way to Goodison Park once again.
But it did not happen. Banega went on to play at Newell's Old Boys on loan in 2014 before joining Sevilla.
So while Everton fans would love to see Banega at the club, they will not be getting overexcited.
