Celtic’s Colin McCabe names Craig Gordon among the players he looks up to

Celtic youngster Colin McCabe also looks up to Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, Arsenal great David Seaman and former Hoops hero Packie Bonner.

Celtic youngster Colin McCabe has told the club’s official website that he is learning from goalkeeper Craig Gordon everyday.

The young goalkeeper has also said that he watched a lot of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, Arsenal great David Seaman and former Celtic hero Packie Bonner.

“As I grew up I wasn’t a goalie so I never really looked to them but as I became one I looked at the guys like Peter Schmeichel, David Seaman, Packie Bonner,” McCabe told Celtic’s official website.

“They were great and I pick and chose from them. Nowadays, watching Craig Gordon every day is brilliant. Craig’s standard is excellent every day so he’s a big influence for me. He’s No.1 at the club and he’s the guy I want to be competing with so I’d say it’s him at the minute.”

Former Sunderland goalkeeper Gordon has been on the books of Celtic since 2014 and is the undisputed the number one at the club.

The 32-year-old also features for the Scotland national team, and McCabe is certainly learning from arguably the best goalkeeper in the Scottish Premiership at the moment.

Schmeichel and Seaman are two of the greatest goalkeepers in football history.

Former Denmark international Schmeichel made his name during his time at Premier League giants United from 1991 to 1999.

Former England international Seaman made his name during his time at North London outfit Arsenal from 1990 to 2003, while Bonner spent his entire career at Scottish giants Celtic.
