The St Lucian defender is on loan at Newport County.
Aston Villa were dealt a potentially huge blow recently with summer signing Jordan Amavi suffering a serious looking knee injury on international duty with the French under-21s.
Now another Aston Villa player has picked up an injury during the international break, although this one should not have a big impact on the first-team.
The player in question is young defender Janoi Donacien. The St Lucian is currently out on loan with Newport County after a similar spell with Wycombe Wanderers earlier in the campaign.
Yesterday saw him in action against Accrington Stanley at the Crown Ground on a very wet pitch that would have been called off in Sunday League - never mind League Two.
Donacien buckled over in the first-half of the game and was stretchered off with what looked like a serious ankle injury.
He left the ground on crutches and Newport boss John Sheridan told the BBC:
"He looks a bit sore and he could be out for a while.
"We don't want it to be serious but he's in a bit of pain and we'll have to assess him."
Of course Donacien was not likely to make the Villa first-team any time soon - in fact his chances of ever making it at Villa Park do seem to be slim.
But Villa fans will still be hoping to hear only good news regarding his injury.
