Blackburn Rovers last night announced the appointment of Paul Lambert as manager, via their official website.
Lambert replaces Gary Bowyer, who was dismissed from his role at the club early last week.
The job is Lambert's first back in management since he was fired by Premier League side Aston Villa earlier this year, who have already dismissed his replacement Tim Sherwood, to appoint Frenchman Remi Garde.
Lambert's time at Aston Villa was a disappointment, unable to take the club forward after high hopes when he took over.
His spell at Norwich City was excellent, taking the club on back to back promotions from League One into the Premier League and then helping the Canaries survive in the top flight at the first time of asking, before making the switch to Villa.
He now faces a tough job at Blackburn, who sit 16th in the Championship, but he is feeling positive, telling the club website: "After a short period out of the game, I feel refreshed and I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead."
Aston Villa fans have been vocal about Lambert on Twitter, with some wishing Lambert luck, and others warning Blackburn the appointment could be doomed. Here is a look at the reaction...
#avfc Paul Lambert appointed as Blackburn manager with Alan Irvine as his assistant. What a dream team! Poor Rovers...— Legion (@HVLegion) November 15, 2015
So Lambert thought it was tough working for Lerner. Good luck with the Venkies. #avfc— Simon Goode (@Goode38) November 15, 2015
I hope Paul Lambert does well at Blackburn Rovers. Think he could have been better at Villa with less financial restraints. #AVFC— Kevin Hughes (@kevinhughes348) November 15, 2015
