The Tottenham Hotspur defender was torn apart by the Bayern Munich winger.
They put in an excellent performance against Holland but still came up short against a side who shockingly did not qualify for the European Championships in France next summer.
Goals from Joe Ledley and Emyr Huws had twice leveled things for Wales but it was Arjen Robben that took the game by the scruff of the neck for Holland.
The Bayern Munich winger scored Holland's second goal and the winner in the game but one man did not come off in a good light for the second goal. That man was Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies.
Playing in a back three he allowed Robben the chance to cut in from the right, on to his favoured left foot , and strike the ball into the back of the net.
Davies' inability to stop the Bayern man doing what is his known as his main form of attack did not go down well with fans on Twitter.
Here is some of the best reaction...
Robben rolling back the year's yet again. Davies pushed him inside on his left and boom!.1-2 Netherlands.Come on wales keep pushing.#walned— richard rees (@richierees30) November 13, 2015
Davies tried to show Robben on to his right foot but he and Wales' other defenders were hypnotised as Robben, inevitably, cut on to his left— Dafydd Pritchard (@DafPritchard) November 13, 2015
Ben Davies must be the only person in world football who didn't know Robben was going to cut inside and shoot, for the goal. #Wales— Mike Applegate-Lewis (@Chimpmaster3000) November 13, 2015
I do think Ben Davies will be having nightmares about Robben going past him tonight though.— Ben Price (@thebenprice) November 13, 2015
Ben Davies has clearly done his homework on Robben, knows he's all right foot— David Arkinstall (@davidarkinstall) November 13, 2015
Classic Robben. Kept teasing Ben Davies down in the right channel. Wonderful ability to run with the ball at pace. 2-1 #WALvNED— Laurence Mora (@Mora_sport) November 13, 2015
Awful goal to give away!! Robben cuts inside every time so why Ben Davies hasn't forced him down wide on to his right foot is beyond me!— SionMorgan (@SionMorgan) November 13, 2015
Oi Ben Davies! it's Arjen Robben, he only has a left foot, best not invite him onto it— Ben Earland (@Benjichan_) November 13, 2015
Such niaeve defending from Ben Davies. Robben has done that his entire career, do NOT let him come on his left foot— StevieDE (@StevieDE83) November 13, 2015
Shocking defending there. Robben is one footed so show him on his weaker foot. Basic defending, very poor Ben Davies.— Mikey Roberts (@mikeyroberts81) November 13, 2015
Ben Davies ever heard of Robben?— Jack Thomas (@OtisJt) November 13, 2015
