Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has stated that the club’s fans would love to see him, Eric Dier and Dele Alli all included in the England set-up for Euro 2016, as reported by the Tottenham Journal.
Mauricio Pochettino has based his side around young homegrown players, with a host of the club’s youth products making waves in the game.
In the Three Lions’ 2-0 defeat to Spain in Alicante last night, first-choice central midfield pairing Eric Dier and Dele Alli came off the bench to face the current European champions.
Mason, who has recently returned to the Spurs fold after injury, had a breakthrough campaign in 2014-15 and made his international debut also earlier this year.
With Roy Hodgson’s squad for next summer’s Euro 2016 tournament in France set to tightly contested, the youth-team graduate has admitted he wants to be part of the scene.
He also stated that it would be a fantastic tonic for the Spurs fans if he, Alli and Dier were all in the contingent.
“It’s great, we’re young English lads,” Mason is quoted as saying by the Tottenham Journal.
“It would be nice if all three of us are in there. We’ll see what happens. It’s good for the club as well to have young English players, I’m sure the fans love to see it as well and it’s good to be part of.”
Mason’s role in the Lilywhites’ starting XI is under threat due to the impressive partnership of Dier and Alli, with Mousa Dembele also excelling in an advanced role.
