Vardy has been the man behind 12 of Leicester’s league goals this season, scoring at least one in his last nine league encounters to take him to within one effort of the all-time Premier League record.
However, Savage feels Vardy’s teammate Mahrez is the real entertainer at the King Power Stadium.
“Jamie Vardy has been banging in the goals, but his teammate Riyad Mahrez is the one who gets me out of my seat,” Savage wrote when praising Leicester as a breath of fresh air this season.
Mahrez has been superb for Claudio Ranieri’s men, scoring seven league goals and adding a further five assists in 10 Premier League starts.
His record as a creative winger/attacking midfielder is the best in the league, bettering renowned figures such as Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Raheem Sterling and Mesut Ozil.
For a player of just 24 and a recruit from French minnows Le Havre, Mahrez has been an absolute revelation for the club and his value will have skyrocketed on the back of his eye-catching performances.
