Wales may have qualified for the Euro 2016 finals in style, but they got a timely reminded on Friday evening that they should not get carried away.
The Netherlands were miserable during the qualifying campaign and failed to book their place in the prestigious competition.
However, it was the Oranje who were celebrating on Friday evening, as they got the better of Wales 3-2 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in the friendly international, thanks to a double from former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben and one from Bas Dost. Joe Ledley and Emyr Huws were on target for Chris Coleman’s home team.
Over the course of the 90 minutes in Cardiff, hosts Wales had 41% of the possession, took nine shots of which four were on target, and earned five corners.
The Netherlands 59% of the possession, took 11 shots of which six were on target, and earned three corners.
Among the players in action were Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ben Davies, Southampton central defender Virgil van Dijk and Crystal Palace-owned Nottingham Forest midfielder Jonathan Williams (see photos above and below).
