Lee Erwin seized his chance for Leeds United in a friendly.
Lee Erwin has had an unsatisfactory start to his Leeds United career, but his prospects are beginning to look up.
Erwin was one of the club's first summer signings during the transfer window but was unable to convince head coach Uwe Rosler he was worthy of a spot in the first team.
Rosler sent him out on loan to League One side Bury but his spell was interrupted by illness and petered out.
He has since returned to Leeds and is eligible to make his first start next weekend against Rotherham United, if selected.
He did his chances no harm at all with a goal in Friday night's friendly match against Wycombe Wanderers.
New head coach Steve Evans has vowed to get the former Motherwell forward involved, and did not hesitate to hand him a start with Chris Wood on international duty.
Leeds played a strong side which included captain Sol Bamba, and first choice goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, but also gave chances to fringe players like Erwin, Souleymane Doukara, and brought Casper Sloth off the bench.
Sam Byram scored the second goal in the 2-0 win away to the League Two side, in front of more than 700 fans who made the trip.
Erwin's display offered real encouragement, and he will get a real confidence boost from his goal. He has more work to do to establish himself at the club, but this was a step in the right direction.
Here is a look at how supporters reacted to his display...
