Spurs should be wary of talking up the young striker too much.
This week has seen Tottenham Hotspur heavily linked with the signature of young Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. It was reported by Spanish publication AS that the deal was done and that Tottenham had secured the services of this precocious talent.
It now appears that those reports were a little premature, with his agent insisting no deal was yet agreed, which will leave many a Spurs fan disappointed.
Osimhen was the star at the recent FIFA Under-17 World Cup as his side won the competition. He scored a whopping 10 goals at the competition in just seven appearances - including against Mali in the final.
But Spurs fans will be forgiven for thinking 'here we go again'.
In July 2011 Tottenham Hotspur snapped up teenage striker Souleymane Coulibaly from Italian side Siena after he had excelled at the same competition, the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.
He had scored nine goals in four matches at the competition for the Ivory Coast and Spurs beat off a host of big clubs to snap up the teenager.
However he struggled to make an impact at Tottenham. He had a spell on loan at Grosseto before being sold to Bari in 2014. Nowadays he is playing in League One with Peterborough United - scoring four times in 18 appearances for the club so far.
So whilst Osimhen looks like a great talent, there is no telling just how he will turn out in the future.
