Chris Sutton outlines the only philosophy that should matter to Celtic

Chris Sutton suggests that Celtic should learn to adapt in Europe.

Chris Sutton has written in The Daily Record that the only thing that should matter to Celtic now is winning.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila has always propagated an attacking style of football.

While Sutton understands that, in the wake of defeats to Molde in the Europa League, the former Celtic striker has stated that the Bhoys should be concerned with just winning at the moment.

“Collins also said Celtic wouldn’t change their philosophy despite the setbacks,” the former Chelsea striker wrote in The Daily Record.

“I’m always wary when I hear managers and coaches talk about philosophy. The only philosophy that matters is winning.

“I understand Deila and Collins want their side to play a certain way and I have a degree of admiration for that. But the good teams are able to adapt.”

Celtic do play attacking football, but perhaps they need to be more adaptable in Europe.

Not all teams in the Champions League or the Europa League will come out and play attacking football, and the Bhoys need to be prepared for it.

For the Scottish Premiership giants to progress and succeed in Europe, they need to understand that they have to be more pragmatic and tactically better.

Celtic are at the foot of the Europa League Group A at the moment with just two points from four matches, three points behind second-place Fenerbahce.
