Liverpool legend Steve Nicol suggested on the ESPN FC show on BT Sport/ESPN on Thursday evening that Crystal Palace are the only Premier League club who still play an English style of football.
“You are talking about English style of play,” said the former Liverpool defender. “Well, that’s gone.
“English style was really about getting the ball forward quicker. That was the main difference…
“The only team I can think that maybe has a little bit of English style is Crystal Palace, and they are doing extremely well.”
Palace are a club on the up and have been doing extremely well since Alan Pardew was appointed the first-team manager in the middle of last season.
The Eagles finished as high as 10th in the Premier League table last season, and there is a very good chance that they will end up higher this term.
The London outfit are currently eighth in the standings with 19 points from 12 matches, just five points behind fourth-place Manchester United.
Palace have scored 14 goals and have conceded 12, and have played an all-round good football.
The Eagles will take on Sunderland at Selhurst Park in the Premier League after the two-week international break.
