Steve Evans names six Leeds players who will play against Wycombe

Leeds United take on Wycombe Wanderers in a friendly later this evening.

Leeds United manager Steve Evans has told BBC Radio Leeds that he intends to start a strong team against Wycombe Wanderers in a friendly tonight.

The Whites take on Wycombe as they aim to keep their match-sharpness up during the international break.

Evans has suggested that he will not be taking the non-competitive fixture lightly – with Marco Silvestri, Sol Bamba, Giuseppe Bellusci, Gaetano Berardi, Scott Wootton and Mirco Antenucci all confirmed to be playing a part.

“It gives the players an opportunity to say to Steve Evans and Paul Raynor and all the staff ‘I want to be a part of this,’” Evans told BBC Radio Leeds.

“Certainly people like Silvestri, Bamba, Bellusci, Berardi, Wootton and Mirco will all play, but I also would love to have a look at [Tommaso] Bianchi and people like Casper Sloth.”

Both Bianchi and Sloth are yet to appear since Evans took charge, and they are yet to make it on to the pitch this season.

Bianchi is highly regarded by Leeds, but an injury has disrputed his progress at Elland Road this season.

Sloth, meanwhile, has regularly impressed for the club’s under-21 side, but he has failed to break into the starting line-up – and has not been seen in a Leeds shirt since way back in February.

It means that both will be eager to show their quality if they do play tonight, but breaking into Leeds’ first team could be tough at this moment in time, as the Yorkshire side have won their last two matches.
