Peterborough United are interested in signing Leicester City defender Callum Elder on a permanent deal, according to a report in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.
Elder has been on loan at Posh for much of the campaign so far, and he has been hugely impressive at the ABAX Stadium.
The Australian defender has come straight into Peterborough’s side, with his rampaging runs down the left-hand side catching the eye.
Posh have already extended his loan, which initially was only scheduled to be a short-term one, but they are now keen to make his stay more permanent.
As things stand, Elder’s agreement is set to expire in January, but Posh are hoping to negotiate with Leicester to sign the 20-year-old on a permanent basis, or to extend his temporary spell until the end of the season.
Elder has made 14 appearances for Posh to date, and he scored his first senior goal against Doncaster Rovers earlier in the season.
Elder also had a loan spell at Mansfield Town last season, and he has coped well whenever he has been given first-team action so far in his career.
