Rangers are at the top of the Scottish Championship table at the moment.

Rangers defender James Tavernier has explained to The Scottish Sun how the two-week international break will help the team in their attempt to win the Scottish Championship title this season.

“The international break can really help the team - lads can go away with their families and just chill out,” said the former Newcastle United right-back.

“It’s about getting the energy back and coming back firing on all cylinders and we’ll do what we do best.”

Tavernier has also underlined Rangers’ target by Christmas and said: “If we are top of the league by Christmas then that is where we want to be but we’ll just concentrate on it game by game.”

Rangers are in great form at the moment and are on course to winning the Scottish Championship this campaign.

If the Gers are able to do that, then they will gain automatic promotion to the Scottish Premiership at the end of the season.

Mark Warburton’s side are at the top of the league table at the moment with 36 points from 13 matches.

Rangers are five points clear of Hibernian, who are currently second in the standings.

The Glasgow outfit will take on Livingston away from home in the Scottish Championship after the two-week international break.

Having a break will certainly help Rangers in their aim to win the Scottish Championship title this campaign.
