Derry, a former Leeds United and QPR midfielder, has been appointed the new manager of Cambridge.
Faurlin has backed his former Rangers teammate to be a success at the League Two outfit.

Cambridge are 18th in the League Two table at the moment with 20 points from 16 matches.
Derry had been without a managerial job since March when he was sacked by Notts County.
The 37-year-old Englishman helped County escape relegation from League One in 2013-14, but he was dismissed after a run of just three wins in 24 league matches.
Meanwhile, QPR are 13th in the Championship table at the moment with 20 points from 16 matches.
Rangers are eight points behind sixth-place Birmingham City and are very much in the running for a playoff spot.
