Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez desperate to play for Spain

Ayoze Perez has scored three goals in his last six matches for Newcastle United.

Ayoze Perez has told Newcastle United’s official website that he is desperate to be handed his debut for Spain.

The 22-year-old has earned caps up to under-21 level for Spain, but he is yet to break into the senior squad.

And Perez is now aiming to continue scoring at club level, to ensure that he gets a chance for his nation in the near future.

"Some pieces are changing in the Spain team and there are young players coming with a lot of quality. It's a dream for me. It's something that I would like to get," he said.

"I'm on the way I think but I have to keep working like I'm doing and scoring goals is the key. Hopefully one day I can say I have made my debut with Spain."

After a disappointing World Cup in 2014, Spain have started to dismantle their squad, and build for the future again.

La Roja have given some of their younger players a chance in recent fixtures, and Perez will be hoping that his form gets noticed soon.

The front-man has been in fine form for the Magpies so far this season, and he is quickly developing a reputation as one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League.

Perez’s partnership with Aleksandar Mitrovic has been highly impressive, with the Spaniard scoring three times in his last six matches.
