Jordan Amavi will undergo tests on his knee today.
Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi suffered an injury on international duty last night.
The left-back went down in clear pain clutching his knee and had to be helped from the field, and could face a substantial spell on the sidelines.
French newspaper L'Equipe report that he will undergo a MRI scan today to learn the extent of the injury.
The outlook of their report has worsened on the update they gave last night. Their report quotes a member of staff in the French under-21 team, stating the injury appeared to be: "a knee sprain with ligament probably affected."
The word 'probably' suggests fans should fear the worst, if they were not already.
Last night's L'Equipe report did not carry this assertion, quoting only coach Pierre Mankowski, who said: "It is not yet known whether the ligament is ruptured. It's too early to say."
Amavi has been a key player for Aston Villa this season despite the club's poor form, settling instantly after his summer transfer from Nice. If he is injured then Kieran Richardson is set to start in his place.
