The 26-year-old has been ruled out of all action for up to eight weeks with a grade two tear of the medial ligament in his right knee.
Meyler suffered the injury in training before the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2016 play-off tie against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The former Sunderland midfielder has taken to Twitter to thank the fans for their messages of support.
Meyler has scored two goals and created 12 chances in 13 Championship appearances so far this season.
The Irishman has a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 38%, and has won 16 headers, four dribbles and 14 tackles.
Hull, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, are at the top of the Championship table at the moment with 34 points from 16 matches.
The Tigers are level on points with Brighton & Hove Albion, who are currently second in the standings.
