Bruno Satin, Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent, has dismissed speculation that his client could move to Everton during the January transfer window, Tuttomercatoweb report.
The Senegal international defender has been in superb for this season, starting nine Serie A matches as Napoli challenge towards the top of the Italian top-flight.
However, in light of speculation regarding a potential January move to Everton, renowned agent Satin told Crc Radio on Friday that his client is going nowhere, though admitted talks could occur next summer.
“Koulibaly to Everton? No, he won’t be moving from Napoli [in January], he has an important role to play here,” Satin was quoted as saying by the Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb.
“His contract is long, but after the season if proposals arrive we will sit down with Napoli and talk. I don’t know if the club will want him for the long-term, but they are very happy with him now.”
Koulibaly, 24, can play all across the back four but he is predominantly a centre-back who is very strong in the tackle and comfortable with the ball at his feet, preferring short passing.
Everton have options at the back this season, but with star defender John Stones likely to be the subject of intense interest again next summer, the club may be on the lookout for a suitable replacement.
Leaving Napoli and potentially Champions League football for the Toffees wouldn’t normally make much sense, yet the financial benefits of the Premier League could make such deals more realistic.
