Everton manager Roberto Martinez has told the club’s official website that he has been very impressed by Ramiro Funes Mori since he arrived at Goodison Park.
Funes Mori signed for the Toffees from River Plate in the summer transfer window, and he has been thrust into first-team life at Everton.
An injury to Phil Jagielka has meant that the Argentine defender has been handed a run of games of late, and Martinez has been impressed with what he has seen.
“He is growing all the time and has been very impressive with us,” the Spanish boss said.
“He is coping with the Premier League and the demands. His work has been impressive.
“I just hope he can come back fully fit and with a real freshness to be ready for Aston Villa.”
Funes Mori has played eight matches for Everton to date, and while the transition to English football can be difficult for some players, he seems to have coped well.
The 24-year-old has dealt with every challenge thrown at him so far, and his partnership with John Stones is looking to be a very effective one.
Everton have still not lost a match when Funes Mori has figured for them, and the centre-back will be looking to keep that record going for as long as possible.
Funes Mori’s next club action is likely to come after the international break, when Everton take on a struggling Aston Villa side in two weekends’ time.
