Manchester United's strongest available starting XI: Lingard cannot be ignored but Schweinsteiger and Depay can

We consider the best 11 players that Manchester United can currently call on in the league.

Manchester United have had a relatively good start to the new season, even if fans and neutrals alike have bemoaned their lack of attacking intent.

Whatever you think of Louis van Gaal’s approach, the United manager has guided them to within two points of current league leaders Manchester City and within touching distance of the Champions League knockout stages.

The international break means United fans will have to wait to see their players back in domestic action, but here we take a look at van Gaal’s best available starting XI.

With Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia and Paddy McNair all currently out through injury, below is the side we feel is currently United’s strongest, with the main surprise being the inclusion of Jesse Lingard.

The simple fact is the winger has added pace and directness to United’s play and while summer signing Memphis Depay has struggled to make an impact in the league thus far, Lingard has seized his opportunity with both hands.
