Taking a look at the 11 best players currently available to Aston Villa.

Aston Villa’s summer spending suggested a bright new dawn at the club under manager Tim Sherwood, but he has since moved on after a woeful start to the campaign, replaced by former Lyon boss Remi Garde.

The Frenchman guided his new side to an impressive 0-0 draw against current Premier League leaders Manchester City at the weekend, and when you consider Villa had just four points from a possible 33 heading into that fixture, it was a great effort from all concerned.

With another international break upon us, and Garde likely to have a lot to contemplate in the coming weeks, we consider the players who would form Villa’s strongest available starting XI…with a particularly tough call in midfield with no place for Ashley Westwood following Jordan Veretout’s outstanding showing on Sunday.

Luckily for the new Villa boss – and surprising considering the rigours of top flight football – the club have no injury concerns ahead of their next league match against Everton on Saturday 21 November.
