Three Leeds stars with a big point to prove against Wycombe

Steve Evans says he will take a strong Leeds squad into Friday night's friendly.

Tom Adeyemi

Against Huddersfield Town, Tom Adeyemi was brought on in the unfamiliar position of right-back late on. He duly made an impression, winning as many tackles in just under 20 minutes as any other Leeds United player all game.

But it is in midfield that the on-loan 24-year-old will want to do his impressing and, if head coach Steve Evans chooses to give Adeyemi a chance, he has plenty to prove against Wycombe.

Adeyemi started brightly enough under Uwe Rosler but his form tailed off and he isn't a starter for Leeds in the middle of the park right now. A second good showing in a row, perhaps in his natural position this time, will add more evidence to his case.

Sam Byram

The contract saga surrounding Sam Byram this season obviously hasn't helped his football. Nor has the fact both Rosler and Evans have preferred to start others ahead of Byram out wide and at right-back.

The Wycombe friendly is the perfect opportunity to give the 22-year-old a run out - and a Leeds side containing an in-form Byram is always better than the alternative.

The youngster is still United's joint-most creative player so far this campaign. That's while he's been out of sorts...

Will Buckley

Leeds fans have been critical of Will Buckley since he moved from Sunderland on loan and so too has Evans.

But what the head coach has been keen to point out is the fact the winger is short of fitness. Friendlies are the ideal games for players in that position.

Should Evans give Buckley a go down the right, then, he can prove he still has the ability that made him stand out in the Championship with Brighton. Even if it's only a few glimpses, the wide man needs to show he's worth persisting with.
