Dwight Gayle raves about Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann's ability

Scott Dann has been one of Crystal Palace's most important players this season.

Dwight Gayle has praised the ability of Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann on Sky Sports.

Dann has been one of the Eagles’ key players so far this season, and the centre-back netted the winner for Alan Pardew’s side in their most recent outing against Liverpool.

Gayle is regularly pitted against Dann is training, meaning he knows the 28-year-old’s quality better than most, and the striker claims that his teammate has every attribute required of a top-class centre-back.

"He's a great player and it looks effortless to him,” Gayle said. “That's a compliment to his ability.

“His ability in every aspect of the game is really good. He's good on the ball, good defensively, reads the ball well and gives you everything you want in a defender.”

Dann has established himself as a key component in Palace’s team, after putting in a series of excellent performances over the past two seasons.

His rise to prominence has not been particularly well documented though, as Palace have a number of headline-grabbers in their team.

The likes of Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha are generally the Palace players who steal the limelight, but Dann has been every bit as important as the two flying wingers.

Palace are currently sat in eighth place in the Premier League table, and they return to action after the international break with a match against struggling Sunderland.
