According to a report in the French publication Footmercato, Manchester United lead the race to sign Chelsea’s out of favour youngster Charly Musonda.
The promising 19-year-old is said to be frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge and is considering his future ahead of the January transfer window.
The Blues have invested a lot of money in youngsters in recent seasons and now boast a squad of talent in the region of 50 plus players, with a number currently out on loan.
As reported by Footmercato, his situation has drawn interest from a number of top clubs with Manchester United linked with making a bid of €15 million [£10.6m] in order to acquire his services.
“Manchester United are the most interested in the player. The Reds are weighing up an offer of fifteen million euros to snatch the attacking midfielder in Chelsea,” the report reads.
United aren’t the only club interested, however, with Arsenal likely to rival them for his signature.
The Gunners are named in the report as a viable option due to the entourage of the player having deep affection for boss Arsene Wenger and the way he develops young talent.
Musonda, a Belgian youth international, is predominantly an attacking midfielder and has already drawn comparisons with current Chelsea favourite Eden Hazard.
It is understood by Footmercato the player wishes to remain in the Premier League, though a switch to Ligue 1 hasn’t been ruled out as duo Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are also said to be monitoring the situation.
