West Ham's misfortune will be Tottenham's gain in a fortnight.
West Ham have been rocked by the news summer signing Dmitri Payet faces a spell on the sidelines.
The BBC reported Payet is going to be out of action for three months due to the ankle injury he sustained against Everton, after a tackle from James McCarthy.
Payet has been West Ham's outstanding player early this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 12 Premier League games.
He has made an instant impact after his transfer from Marseille, and the Hammers will have to find a way to replace him.
The first game he will miss for the Hammers will be against London rivals Tottenham, a game in which fans will be desperate to record a victory, with the two teams level on points with 21 each so far.
His absence is a potential boost to Tottenham, who struggled to defend crosses into the box against Arsenal at the weekend, during the 1-1 draw at The Emirates.
Spurs have just seen their own big money summer signing Heung-Min Son return from injury, coming off the bench against Arsenal, and they could have an advantage for the upcoming game due to the swing in fitness between the two players.
Fans of Tottenham have acknowledged Payet's injury on Twitter, with some even expressing their disappointment that the French international will not be playing...

was looking forward to seeing how Spurs would cope with Payet, he may play for West Ham but he’s absolute quality.— James H (@JFH89) November 9, 2015
Payet is a baller of a player. Shame he is injured. Good for Spurs as next game is West Ham. But not for footy. Man's got flair— Aamar (@Mgarfy) November 9, 2015
Feel sorry for Payet one of my favourite non-Spurs players. Absolutely incredible, hopefully he'll come back even better. Class player— Kane is our Always (@Trippiegg) November 9, 2015
