Sam Allardyce impressed by Sunderland's Yann M'Vila

Sunderland managed to sign Yann M'Vila during the summer transfer window, and he has gone straight into their side.

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has told the Chronicle that he has been very impressed by Yann M’Vila since arriving at the Stadium of Light.

The Frenchman was brought in during the summer transfer window by the Black Cats, and he has immediately gone into their starting line-up.

Allardyce feels that M’Vila has done very well during his initial time in the Premier League, but he has lamented the error he made in Sunderland’s latest contest.

M’Vila was guilty of giving away a cheap penalty, as Sunderland fell to a 1-0 defeat against Southampton.

And Allardyce said: “He’s certainly one of our best players. I’ve been very impressed with him since I’ve been here and again on Saturday. It was just a shame he didn’t control his emotions there.”

Sunderland’s work in the transfer market has been largely unsuccessful in recent years, but M’Vila appears to have been a solid addition.

His pace and power has added quality and bite to their midfield ranks, and he will be crucial if the North East side are to escape relegation trouble.

Sunderland are currently perched in 19th place in the Premier League table, and are four points adrift of safety.
