Roberto Martinez has suggested to the Liverpool Echo that Ramiro Funes Mori has been a perfect fit at Everton.
The Toffees signed Funes Mori from River Plate during the summer transfer window, and he has gone on to be a roaring success at Goodison Park so far.
The Argentine defender has come straight into Everton’s first-team set-up, and he seems to have taken no time to adapt to his new surroundings.
And Martinez said in the Liverpool Echo: "He is an incredible fighter, he is competitive by nature, an outstanding defender and a perfect fit for what we wanted.
“I don’t think there is such a thing as looking into certain markets and restoring faith, you develop faith with individuals and those relationships don’t have a background or a market.”
Funes Mori’s transition to English football has had to be sped up, due to an injury to Phil Jagielka, which has brought him straight into the first-team.
The powerful centre-back has not been given a gentle introduction to the Premier League, but he has coped with being thrown straight in at the deep end.
Funes Mori has formed an excellent partnership with John Stones, and he will pose Roberto Martinez with a selection problem when Jagielka does return to fitness.
Everton are currently in ninth place in the Premier League table, having drawn their last match 1-1 with West Ham United.
